In some cases, the results may be similar but often, further adjustment will be required in darktable. The underlying processing engines are very different from application to application, and depend a lot on the individual image. It is important to understand that the import process will never give identical results to other software. The aim here is not to make darktable a drop-in replacement for any other software, but rather to help you to recover part of the work you have already invested into your image. In addition, darktable has been designed to help migrate some image operations from other specific applications.
